The case for assaulting journalist Mr.Freddy Gamage on June 2nd 2016 was held yesterday (November 29) at the Magistrate court Negambo.
The Magistrate Mr.Ruchira Weliwatta had ordered police to present with their statement on 29th of November about Dayan lanza,Former Deputy Mayor of Negambo Municipal Council. A Police Officer from Peliyagoda/North Crime division said, that they haven’t enough evidences to arrest Dayan lanza on this assaulting.
Lawyers representing complaining party,said that according to the “B report” it is very clearly mentioned about threatening phone call from Dayan Lanza to Mr.Gamage and evidences about 16 phone calls between the main suspect and Dayan Lanza on the date of assaulting. “These evidences are very much enough to arrest Dayan Lanza as the 3rd Suspect according to the 32nd sentence of Criminal Code Act.
After hearing both parties Magistrate said that ,The Police has given enough time to investigate on this case in order to accomplish justice. Finally the Magistrate advert this case to Attorney General Department for further advices.
The next hearing will be on 28th February 2017.
