A discussion has emerged about the murals being created by the youth across the country, with various opinions at the forefront.
Various criticisms have already been raised about the murals that highlight militarism, war and nationalism.
However, the youth group behind it claims that none of that will happen in Negombo.
“We do not create works that will hurt anyone’s feelings.”
They paint the murals near the hospital, including the staff and medical equipment, and also paint sailboats on the beach.
They also say that if the mural in Green Park is given to these youth, they will paint pictures that speak of unity among all races.Negombo_02
They further emphasize that they will only paint what highlights the identity of Negombo.
This is indeed a message to the country as well.
A youth leader who contacted the Mipura website said that a large number of people are already expected to join this charity event, which is scheduled to begin at 9 am on December 8.
He further stated that sufficient materials including paint have already been received for this event.
Meanwhile, the Mipura website has been contacted and stated that some institutions are also willing to provide food and drinks to the groups contributing to this event.
We at Mipura also request you to support the youth in painting the walls of Negombo in every possible way.
