MP Dr. Archuna Ramanathan has said that if our independent committee is rejected, we will vote for the Tamil National People’s Front led by Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, the supeedsam.com website has reported.
He made this statement in Jaffna while addressing the media after handing over nomination papers to contest the local government elections in the district on Thursday (20).
He had further said:
We have submitted nomination papers for only 11 out of 17 local government bodies in Jaffna. He did not contest for 06 councils including other islands.
Jaffna. The nominations for the municipal councils may be rejected. If they reject it, we will extend our support to Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam’s party. We request you to vote for them.
We will support Gajendrakumar Penambalam as he is the most valuable person among the current Tamil leaders.
Those in power are afraid of us. They have banned my speeches from being broadcast, saying that I said something that was not said in Parliament.
Similarly, even though I asked for security, I was not given any security.
But they have provided security to former MPs. He further said that his life has been threatened by ethnic minorities.
