The People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) organization has stated that illegal posters related to the local government elections are currently being seen almost everywhere and that they should be controlled immediately.
PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi has told the media that since there are many laws that affect the removal of illegal advertisements and posters, the implementation of those laws should be expedited.
He emphasized that the implementation of environmental laws, local government laws, highway laws and general laws can also curb the display of illegal posters.
The PAFFREL Executive Director has further emphasized that political parties and groups should follow legal methods during election campaigns.
