A businessman and three others have been arrested by the Bribery Commission for attempting to bribe a traditional doctor by promising to provide her with a traditional medical certificate issued by the Ayurvedic Medical Council.
The suspects were arrested following a complaint filed by a doctor to the Bribery Commission.
They had demanded a bribe of Rs. 1 million in return for promising to provide her with a traditional medical certificate issued by the Ayurvedic Medical Council.
The Bribery Commission says that they were arrested on charges of receiving an advance of Rs. 5 million and providing support for it.
Those arrested are a person from Kelaniya, a businessman from Pilimatalawa and a coordinator of an NGO residing in Nawalapitiya.
Bribery officers have managed to trap them in a prominent hotel in Colombo.
