There is currently a rumor among the municipal employees that several officers of the Negombo Municipal Council are to be transferred in the near future.
It is said that several of those who helped them with their financial dealings during the Lansa regime will receive these transfers soon.
The former municipal commissioner had previously taken steps to transfer some of these officials, but after the current commissioner came to power, they were stopped.
However, among the information currently being shared in the municipal council is that these transfers will take place before the local government elections begin.
Many people currently believe that this could happen after the political establishment meets the current commissioner.
